NC Health News Talks About New Medicaid

by Clarissa Donnelly Durrvin

With the Health Opportunities pilot project taking off, how are organizations using the program to better serve their clients?

We discussed this with Sonya Jones, co-founder of Caja Solidaria. As of August 18, Caja Solidaria had 47 HOP referrals. Jones believes that the program will be beneficial not only to her clients, but also to the health of the community.

Amy Upham also joined the conversation as CEO of Eleanor Health Foundation. The Foundation connects people with substance use disorder and other mental illnesses with things like affordable medication, employment, and more.

The third committee member was Madeleine Moriale, a lawyer at North Carolina Legal Aid. Legal Aid NC helps North Carolina residents find housing, healthcare, and more.

NC Health News Medicaid and rural health reporter Clarissa Donnelly-DeRoven moderated the session.
