I’ve been a near daily exerciser and a general fitness enthusiast since college. But with the demands of work, and parenting — well, life in general — I often find it hard to adjust to the same amount of exercise I love these days, and when I do, I tend to find it hard to push myself.
I’ve heard great things about her Apple Fitness Pluswhich works in conjunction with Apple Watch or Iphone To guide you through various exercises including yoga classes, running, walking, strength training and even meditations.
In an effort to up my fitness game, I tested Apple Fitness Plus for three months – and here’s how it worked for me.

Fitness has always been an important part of my life, and while I still find time for it most of the time (although it’s not easy!), one of the issues I constantly struggle with is not wanting to push myself. I don’t know if this has anything to do with the pandemic, getting older, and parenting – the list goes on and on – but over the past year or so I often find myself slouching a bit during workouts and not stressing myself out as much as I know I can be.

While I was all for taking things easy from time to time, I knew I needed a little extra boost. And this was the main benefit I got from Apple Fitness Plus: While using the Time to Run feature, for example, my guide would tell me when to ramp up and when to slow down. When I run on my own, I don’t really think about it – I just try to get through the running.
As a yogi, I absolutely loved the feature of yoga. Since I’ve been practicing yoga for many years, I actually don’t need a screen for that, but since the pandemic started, I’ve had to make various YouTube videos (and sit through ads) on my yoga computer. With the Apple Fitness Plus Yoga feature, I was able to navigate through yoga streams without a screen, which I absolutely loved.
I also love the guided walk. Walking is one of my favorite forms of exercise, but since it’s a bit slower, I sometimes find myself jogging rather than staying in the present moment – definitely not something I want to do for a walk! Walking time helped break this cycle because I was able to listen to the coach’s voice and stay present.

The only problem I have with Apple Fitness Plus is that although the monthly cost isn’t too expensive, you have to have Apple products to actually use it. And I already have Apple Watch, which really helps. When I’m running, for example, and my coach tells me to speed up, my watch can tell me exactly how fast I’m going. only with IphoneI wouldn’t know that.
Do I Recommend Apple Fitness Plus? Absolutely – especially if you already own Apple products, especially Apple Watch. It can help you push yourself and stress into your workout even when you feel like you don’t have time. With workouts as short as five minutes, I know this one’s for real: We all have time!
